PhD Position: Skin pigmentation
The position of a pre-doctoral researcher is available in the project “Autonomous pigmentation of epithelial cells” at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria. The project is supported by the Austrian Science Fund, FWF (Project PAT8918924).
The aim of the project is to determine the mechanism and function of a previously uncharacterized mode of epithelial cell pigmentation. This interdisciplinary project continues a successful line of research (doi: 10.1038/s41467-024-46373-x) and involves investigations of tissue samples from genetically modified animals, gene expression analyses, recombinant protein technologies, molecular phylogenetics and comparative genomics. The project is conducted in cooperation with excellent international research partners.
We invite applications from highly motivated students with an interest in evolutionary biology and a thorough understanding of molecular biology.
Requirements:
MSc in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field
Experience in molecular biology
