Filter banks and signal expansions are of fundamental importance in many applications of digital signal processing. The goals of the proposed research project can be broadly described as the application of filter banks and signal expansions to wireless communications. In particular, the planned research will focus around four different areas, namely Blind Equalization based on Second-Order Statistics and Oversampled Filter Banks Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexinig and Gabor Expansions Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Filter Banks Space-Time, Processing and Signal Expansions. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of oversampled filter banks and redundant signal expansions in wireless communications. This research will be based on work on filter banks and signal expansions which I have performed over the past three years. I intend to carry out the proposed research project at the Department of Statistics and at Information Systems Laboratory at Stanford University where expert knowledge on both signal expansions and wireless communications is available. Depending on the interests of my colleagues at Stanford University and the specific topics being pursued there during my stay, I plan to work on a selection of the problems described in this proposal.
