HIRNBERGER 09.10.2000
The fine structure of magnetic fields and of flow fields in the lower solar atmosphere, the photosphere, shall be
analyzed. Observations with the Göttinger-tho-dimensional-spectrometer (installed at the vacuum tower telescope
in Izana/Tenerife) shall be combined with image reconstruction techniques based on speckle interferometry. Hence,
the spatial resolution of the resulting data material will be close to the theometrical limit of the telescope.
Pure spectrometric data shall give new insights into the flow fields in the bright structures of solar spot umbrae
(light bridges and umbral dots) and into the excitation of acoustic modes in the granular flow field.
Furthermore, with spectro-polarimetric data the interaction of small-scale magnetic elements in the quiet solar
atmosphere with convective motions shall be analyzed.
