Abstract
The present project aims to document by means of a selected corpus of official papers the language used in the
royal chambers of Paris before 1300 and to analyze it from a philological/scriptological and from a
quantitative/scriptometrical point of view. Through the definition and description of certain parameters a kind of
"primordial linguistic meter" will be defined, which can be compared to contemporary scripture productions in
other French regions (and as a long-term objective in the Romania in general).
For the first time, the analyzed texts will be edited and used in a text data bank. On account of this data bank,
finally, a solid empirical and methodological foundation for a diatopic/diachronic/diastratic outcome demonstrating
the most important processes in the (Northern) French language area will be facilitated and thus an important
contribution to the knowledge of development of French standard language will be made. To this end, some
analysis and synthesis procedures will be developed or refined.
