What you’ll be doing
In the Complex Dynamical Systems Group (Prof. Andreas Kugi) and in close cooperation with an internationally active, industrial research partner you will develop new methods for mathematical modeling, optimization and control of an inductive annealing system for steel strips.
Research topics
- Modeling and control of distributed parameter dynamical systems
- Development and data-based parametrization of a model of the inductive strip annealing system
- Consideration of phase transformations as well as electrical and electromagnetic material properties
- Real-time estimation of non-measurable system quantities
- Design-optimization and control of the inductive heater
- Realization and validation on an industrial strip annealing system
Your profile
- Master’s degree in mathematics, automatic control, computer science, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanics, material science, metallurgy, process engineering, or physics
- Excellent technical understanding and analytical capabilities
- High commitment and motivation, willingness to contribute to academic teaching
- Team spirit, strong communication skills, goal orientation, structured, and responsible way of working
- Very good command of written and spoken English, basic skills in German favorable
