Abstract
With its 27 contributions the volume presents the greatest part of the papers delivered on the occasion of the XV
Colloque du Comite International de Paleographie "Regionalisme et internationalisme: Problemes de paleographie
et de codicologie du moyen age" (Vienna, September 13 - 17, 2005). The authors analyse in the scope of the topic
of the conference the regional and supraregional impact on the development of latin script from the late antiquity
and early medieval period up to the beginning of the modern times. The geographic area considered in the articles
spans from the Iberian peninsula to Central Europpe and Iceland. In their contributions the authors try to show the
influence of local conditionning factors and currences emanating of cultural and intellectual European Centers on
the development of script in the geographic regions taken in consideration. The contributions dedicated to book
illumination follow an analogous method. One article deals with special local carolingian binding techniques,
another one gives a general survey of the local and supraregional impacts in the epigraphic domain.
