The main goal of this project is to analyse the application of neural networks to medical data analysis problems.
The usability of neural network algorithms in this domain will be investigated and expanded to take into account
the specific requirements of medical decision support, such as differential diagnosis or the need for hierarchical
classification systems. The research focus will lie on improving the generalization capabilities of neural network
models by selecting appropriate model structures and learning algorithms. There are numerous application
possibilities of this research, ranging from improved computer support for medical personnel to the development of
autonomous patient monitoring devices.
