The central issue for the planned research are modifications of the time-frequency lattice of Gabor frames; these modifications are motivated by applications to filter banks, where jitter error and loss of channels occurs. The suitable framework (including regular and irregular Gabor frames modified in various ways) are non-orthogonal expansions with good time-frequency localization. It is the purpose of this project to investigate the benefits of a given redundancy of such sytems for their robustness against natural modifications. Among such modifications are small time-frequency shifts of building blocks (jitter error) or complete loss of some elements (e.g., a missing line).
