The discontinuation of the 1970`s standard commentary on Austrian Air Law has resulted in a gap in academic writing on the subject which is to be closed by this project. The accession in 1995 to the European Union has thoroughly changed the foundations of Austrian air law; this project will (re-)establish a systematic and comprehensive access for academics and practi-tioners alike. In the first phase the relevant legal material in EU law will be identified, evalu-ated and edited to mach the electronic format required by the selected platform. This will al-low a linking of the material to draft documents and travaux prèparatoires, as well as to sources in public international law and implementing legislation in domestic law. In the sec-ond phase, the text body thus compiled will be supplemented by notes and commentaries, as well as references to case law before courts and administrative bodies and agencies. The project under this application aims at the foundations of Austrian air law in EU law and con-tributes to a comprehensive project which will also include contributions by other researchers and practitioners of aviation law from their respective areas of expertise. In contrast to the only printed collection of texts available this project will be realised via an electronic platform. This will ensure continuous maintenance and updating while keeping costs at a minimum. By linking the text with materials, references and case-law the selected platform facilitates quick and comprehensive researches while remaining within the usual (virtual) office environment without the need for time-consuming trips to external libraries.
