Abstract
The literature of the late Middle Ages in the medieval countries (Länder) Austria, Styria, Carinthia, Salzburg and
Tyrol from 1358 to 1439, that means, from duke Rudolf the Founder`s new cultural politics until the year when,
just before the beginning of early Renaissance, the Chancellery of the Imperium Romanum was translated to the
Habsburgian court of duke Albert Vth will be treated in volume II/2 of the seven-volume History of Literature in
Austria, edited by Herbert Zeman. Volume 1 (The literature of the Early and High Middle Ages in the dioceses of
Passau, Salzburg, Brixen and Trento from the beginnings to 1273), composed by the applicant, was published by
ADEVA, Graz, and funded by FWF. Volume II/1 (The literature of the Late Middle Ages in the countries Austria,
Styria, Carinthia and Tyrol from 1273 to 1358) will be soon submitted to FWF for appraisement.
The preliminary researches for volume II have been funded until now by DFG. However, for volume II/2, a lot of
work is still to be done. Selected manuscripts must be transcribed to make them accessible to literary criticism and
historical description.
