We plan to study steady-state and dynamical problems for elastic matter and black holes, coupled to the Einstein equations. The steady-state problems involvenonrotating configurations of elastic matter both in spherical symmetry and without any symmetries, uniformly rotating elastic configurations in axial symmetry and helical configurations. On the dynamical side we plan, on the one hand, to prove a wellposedness result for a system of several elastic bodies, subject to their own and mutual gravitational field. On the other hand we plan to construct the simplest type of asymptotically hyperboidal initial conditions for a system of more than one black hole with the aim of obtaining an estimate for the initially emitted gravitational radiation.
