Abstract
From the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna all completely preserved Cypriote vessels, these
are nine from the Bronze period and 126 from the Iron period, as well as all attic-
protogeometric, attic-geometric, and protoattic ceramics, which is a small number of 19
complete vessels and one big fragment of an amphora, will be presented in this volume. Most
of the objects included in his Corpus will be published for the first time. In this scientific
series, the objects from museum collections will be presented according to standardized
principles. The provenance and measurements are followed by a description of the material,
shape, decoration, and depiction; a precise as possible range of date concludes this part and is
followed by a scientific commentary regarding shape, depiction and possibly also technical
aspects of the production or further observations. The graphical presentation in the Annexes
(Beilagen) is the result of the measuring of the vessels by 3D scans. The comprehensive part
of plates pictures the vessels from each side and where required outlines details of figures or
technical details.
The entire Cypriote, Attic Geometric, and Protoattic ceramics from the Kunsthistorischen
Museum Wien is published with this volume. The accurate description and graphical
documentation of the 155 vessels opens up new perspectives to researchers on these nearly
unknown material.
