Postdoc-position | Assessment of the environmental impact of circular bioengineering with a focus on the aquatic realm | Project PD 4.2
Project description
The Cluster of Excellence “Circular Bioengineering” aims at the design of bio-based materials that are sustainable, efficient, and waste-free. In Program 4 “Circular prospects” novel processes and materials are investigated in interdisciplinary collaborations connecting analytical chemistry, environmental sciences and social ecology.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigation and assessment of potential environmental issues of circular bioengineering exploiting and interpreting the analytical results generated in the program
- Documentation of scientific results and presentations in the form of scientific publications, conference contributions and reports
- Responsibilities, duties and opportunities as a project staff member in the Cluster of Excellence “Circular Bioengineering”
Embedding in the Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering
The project is part of the “Circular Bioengineering” Cluster of Excellence - Program 4, “Circular Prospects”- and maintains close ties with research groups working on the development of processes and bio-based materials as part of Program 1.
Candidate Profile
- PhD in Chemistry
- Outstanding academic record
- Advanced knowledge in one of the following areas: environmental chemistry environmental sciences, environmental analysis
- Outstanding expertise in academic writing
- Excellent English language skills (spoken and written)
- Excellent skills regarding chemometrics, analytical data interpretation and visualization
- Knowledge of generative AI tools and AI tools to optimize research workflows
- Ability to work independently and scientifically; flexibility and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment; high level of resilience
- Effective time management and organizational skills

Additional Supervisors: Assoc.Prof. Dr. Teresa Steininger Mairinger, Univ.Prof. Dr. Gunda Koellensperger
Location: BOKU University, Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Vienna, Austria
Duration: 22 Months, 40h/week
Salary: Minimum gross monthly salary according to the B1 salary group according to the Austrian university collective agreement.
