Professor Ulrich Schulz-Buschhaus, who died in november 2000, was one of the most eminent critics of Romance Literature and Comparative Literature in Austria and Germany In the last decades, he had published about 300 book reviews, which constitute not only a treasure of concepts and rich analyses, but also an astonishing panorama of the History of our discipline. The present study offers an overview of this work and tries to Show the specific way of this conceptual development. How can the art of the review exist in the academic critic? In what sense can we see a dialogue with the main streams of the epistemologies since 1968, and what influence is generating this activity an Literature and Art. To describe these phenomenons, to edit the texts and to furnish an exhaustive index, was the aim of this work. lt will offer an excellent panorama of the development of the academic critic of Romance and Comparative Literature in the last thirty-five years.
