26.6.2000
The apostle Barnabas was an important figure in Early Christianity and is mentioned in dicisive passages in the
Acts of the Apostles.
The project has three aims:
First it with provide an inquiry into Barnabas` personality and social background as well as of his roles in the
communities in Jerusalem and Antioch and as a missionary.
Second I will try to reconstruct the literary portrait of Barnbas in Acts, and third it with be asked how Barnabas
was adopted in later Christian literature.
