This project aims at investigating strong-interaction matter. Strong-interaction matter here refers to quarks and gluons which are elementary particles that for example make up the cores of atoms. In particular, this kind of matter will be studied at high temperatures and densities, as prevailing shortly after the Big Bang in our universe. At such extreme conditions interesting effects occur, such as an extreme mass-loss of the quarks. As has also been observed experimentally by colliding heavy ions, such a quark-gluon plasma behaves like a perfect liquid. This Lise Meitner-project will also aim at verifying these experimental findings, for example concerning the viscosity of the quark-gluon plasma.

The results obtained in the course of this Lise Meitner-project can also be used to better understand these experimental findings, for example concerning the viscosity of the quark-gluon plasma.
