This project request concerns the start of research work for the second part (ALD-II) of the project "Ladinienatlas - Atlas of Ladinia" (ALD), its objective being to develop a new questionnaire comprising 1200-1500 items. These items will be organized according to lexical (about 2/3) and morphological and syntactical (about 1/3) criteria. We apply for a post graduate position to draft and revise the questionnaire. Paul Videsott, a linguist of ladin origin, is foreseen for this task. The questionnaire will have to be meticulously prepared and must be tested twice in the course of the project (1999-2000) before it is finalized. From 2001 onwards the new questionnaire could be used to explore those 217 points which have already served for ALD-I: The methodological parameters of exploration of ALD-II are similar to those of ALD-I, which will be published in seven volumes (including a CD-ROM) by Verlag Dr. L. Reichert in Wiesbaden in 1998.
In the intervall of the project 13349 (August 1999 - October 2001) the empirical standards for the realisation of the geolinguistic field-project "Linguistic Atlas of the Dolomitic Ladinian and neighbouring Dialects" (ALD-II) have been elaborated, defined and fixed. They embrace: the elaboration and field-testing of the questionnaire, of the modalities for the enquiries in the field; then the elaboration and definition of the modalities of the audiovisual documentation, the training of the collaborators, the definition of the norms for the archivisation or registration of the collected materials in Salzburg, and finally the preparation of the basis of the computer-date base fitting to the questionnaire of ALD-II.
