Abstract

The successor states (including the Republic of Austria and The Kingdom of Hungary) took over the common state property as inheritance. The present project deals with questions which actual even today with comparative and analytical methods, such as the division of the common property after the disintegration of a state unions. The base of the project is the wide range and engrossed collection of materials of Ferenc Szavai PhD, associated professor, the future researcher of the project. The previous project was made possible with the help of the Lise Meitner Fellowship. Hungary was one of the successor state, and had a share from the common property. Its case was unique, it was ruled by the Peace Treaty, the Venice Protocol, the Burgenland Treaty and the International Austro-Hungarian Arbitral Tribunal in Lausanne (1930). On the way to a new integration of European economy it was not possible for the budgets of the parties to have an unfavourable profit or disadvantageous loss. The project researches and presents unknown documents. It aims to compare the Lausanne International Austro- Hungarian Arbitral Tribunal, and study their contents of the Hungarian main claim and the Austrian reply, the Austrian cross-demand, and the replies and duplicates; and the effect on liquidation to the general public. Hungary wanted its own share of the property situated in Austria according to the validity of the last proportion, with regard to accept real estate and other fortune of military property. In addition to that, the Hungarian share of crown goods increased and the Hungarian request on property of the House of Habsburg-Lothringen house also reached 50%. The question of the distribution of common state property is dealt with 4 sections: 1. 1919-1925 Financial negotiations between Austria and Hungary. 2. 1925-1930 Talks and Agreements of the Austro-Hungarian Arbitral Tribunal 3. 1930-1938 International Austro-Hungarian Arbitral Tribunal in Lausanne 4. Treaties between the German Empire and Kingdom of Hungary Above all these, the project aims to overview the liquidation from a new perspective, and compare the talks of liquidation and division of other successor states.
