The literary output of the `parodist` Robert Neumann (1897-1975) is characterized by a wide diversity; and Neumann played a key role in organizing Austrian exiled writers: both these facts are almost forgotten. His extensive literary remains (about 1100 folders) have not even been opened up. This (annotated) selected edition will make the literary remains available: supplemented by a biographical chronicle and by a (partially annotated) register of literary remains concordant with a complete bibliography. Contents of the planned edition : 1 Biographical documents: Austrian/British citizen and political writer in the FRG; his (four) wives (and son Heinrich) as literary companions; relations with publishers 2 Literary critcism, essays on: parody, "impersonation", "Neue Sachlichkeit"; writing in the language of of the country of exile; book market mechanisms. 3 Documents about genesis and reception - especially of historical novels and `Zeitromane`: Flood, Mammon. Struensee, Sir Basil Zaharoff, By the Waters of Babylon, The Children of Vienna, Hitler (book,film), Der Tatbestand. 4 Austrian and International PEN: conflicts in 1933; foundation and activities of the PEN Club Austrian Centre in London and of the Austrian PEN after 1945/47. Vicepresident of the International PEN (mediator between the FRG-PEN and the GDR-PEN; Congress of 1955) 5 Exile in Great Britain: political-literary interventions - Zaharoff law suit, Enemy-Alien-Internment - help for exiles; Austrian Centre and FAM; contributions to the BBC - literary intermediary (with Victor Gollancz; Hutchinson) 6 Letters: Abendroth, Augstein, J. R. Becher, Bielka-Karltreu, Böll, Bornemann, Braunthal, Bredel, Brügel, Broch, Bucerius, Veza Canetti, Celan, Csokor, Doderer, B. Frei, S./A. Freud, E. Freundlich, E.
