The result of this project is the basis of volume VI of the edition "Die Protokolle des gemeinsamen Ministerrates der österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie" (The Protocols of the Common Council of Ministers of the Austro- Hungarian Monarchy) which covers the minutes of the Council meetings from 1908 until the outbreak of World War I in 1914. The publication consists of the complete text of the minutes with footnotes concerning textual criticism, a thorough scientific commentary, a scientific introduction, a bibliography and a detailed index. The protocols show the continuous growth of the conflicts in the Balkans, especially the conflict between Austria- Hungary and Serbia. Whereas the annual common budget was dominating the Common Ministers` Council before 1908, from 1908 till the beginning of World War I all aspects of Balkan-policy shifted into the center of interest. The annexation of Bosnia-Herzegovina by Austria-Hungary in 1908, as well as the negotiations for trade agreements with some Balkan countries, mostly Serbia, forced into the so called Pig-War by Austria-Hungary in 1906, and the Balkan Wars of 1912/13 were main topics of the Common Ministers` Council. This council was also occupied with the creation of the constitution of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the planed enlargement of the railway net. Finally the enlargement of the army was intensively discussed, particularly the creation of the artillery for the "Landwehr" (Honvéd) of both parts of the monarchy and the increase of the so called "contingent of recruits". This volume will close the gap between the already published volume V, 1896-1907, and volume VII, 1914-1918, and will be published with the Akadémiai Kiad publishing house, Budapest. It makes available an important source for the history of Austria and her neighbours.
