General remarks: The whole project ALD ("Ladinienatlas") consists of two parts (ALD-I and ALD-II). The first part ALD-I has been realized - with the continuous support of the FWF - between 1985 and 1997 and published in 1998 in seven volumes (four large size map volumes [format A3] and three register volumes [format B5]). The second part ALD- II has been accomplished - again with the uninterrupted aid of the FWF - from 2000 to 2011 and should be achieved now with the publication of the whole amount of the collected data (in seven volumes: five large size map volumes [format A3] and two register volumes [format B5]). The inquiry grid of the ALD contains 217 localities situated in the northeastern part of Upper Italy and in the Southeast of Switzerland. They cover a coherent surface of 25 000 km. In these 217 localities (or "inquiry points") we collected, for ALD-I, data of mainly phonetic relevance, which have been published, in 1998, on 884 large size dialect maps [format A2]. Yet, for ALD-II, we collected in the same 217 localities data of morphological, syntactical and lexical relevance which are to be published now on 1066 dialect maps (again in the format A2). The two register volumes facilitate the handling of the map volumes. In addition to the printed version of the ALD-II we offer to the scientific community the following web based gadgets: 1) the search engine IRS2 which allows the comfortable retrieval in the whole amount of the transcribed dialect data, 2) the sound-data base SDB2 which affords the rapid and exact hearing of all sound records done between 2000 and 2007 during our fieldwork, by inserting the numbers of the respective locality and question, 3) the PDF`s of the 1066 dialect maps and the whole content of the two register volumes. The layout of ALD-II corresponds exactly to ALD-I, obviously for raisons of uniformity. Ad vol. 6 (Index Generalis [IG]) and 7 (Volumen supplementare [VS]): Index Generalis (IG): The IG and the VS will both be published in the format B5. The IG contains the following parts: a concordance between the two phonetic transcription systems of ALD ("ALD-Standard" and "ALD-light"), the questionnaire of ALD-II, a concordance between the numbering of the questionaire and that of the five map volumes, the directories of the five map volumes, two alphabetic indexes (direct and reverse) of the Italian words of the titles of the 1066 dialect maps, 11 morpho-syntactically relevant indexes which allow the user to discover quickly dialect maps of morpho-syntactical interest. Volumen supplementare (VS): The VS contains the dialect items which could not be located directly on the 1066 dialect maps for lack of space. Furthermore it presents the illustrative drawings that have been exhibited to the informants during the interviews. It is ordered according to the map numbering between 1 and 1066. One should have it always at hand when consulting the dialect maps.
