Abstract
This publication is dedicated to the topic of education in the digital age. Digital change has deeply
affected our societies. Therefore, it is essential to take a closer look at what this entails for human
thinking and perception, for the understanding of ourselves and the world, but also for the status of
knowledge and education. This book outlines education under the auspices of digitization.
Transformation processes are highlighted which - triggered by binary technologies - reach deep into
everyday cultures and worldviews in our societies. These challenge the basis for knowledge and
education. What does this mean for knowledge today? Which role does it play under these
circumstances? And what can and should education be now? For this purpose, the educational
theory debate is questioned from a media studies point of view.
