Abstract Final report

The planned WKP project is conceived in connection with the ongoing stand-alone project Joseph Zoderer. Relocation and critical re-evaluation of his oeuvre (P27061). One of the objectives of said stand-alone project is the development of a web portal called Zoderer online which is designed as a digital biographical compendium: Envisioned and currently in the process of being implemented is a chronicle comprising all relevant events throughout Zoderers life as evidenced by the materials of his pre-mortem bequest, as well as an overview of Zoderers complete works along with multimedia materials (such as sample texts, manuscripts and typescripts and extracts of his diaries and correspondence). The planned WKP project intends to expand the described web portal by a couple of additional features aimed not only at Zoderers general readership, but at two groups in particular: (I) high school students between the ages of 14 to 18 as well as their teachers and (II) person engaged in the cultural sector, students of German literature and related fields as well as scientists engaging with Joseph Zoderers works and issues of interculturality, identity and foreignness etc. To facilitate the analysis of Joseph Zoderer and his work and decrease possible inhibitions part I offers compact, easy-to-use lesson plans for German classes via downloadable modules teachers can access impulses and suggestions for the analysis of Zoderers texts and directly use them in class. Work sheets, instructions, texts and interactive tasks will be provided in clearly structured bundles while an additional section for teachers exclusively will give access to answers, background information and additional materials. The second part is a complete bibliography of all of Zoderers dependently and independently published works as well as secondary literature and critical reception of his work. This fundamental index will not only be the most up to date as regards content, as a searchable online index it is also an innovative modern research tool. All literature by and about Zoderer as well as the reception of his work will for the first time be recorded in its updated entirety, thereby providing the basis for future scientific analysis of the authors life and works. Part I and II will be made available on the web portal under the heading IM ZOOM via a dropdown menu.

With the online platform "Joseph Zoderer in Zoom" https://literaturtirol.at/zoderer/#/home, the project WKP 110 (P27061) has, for the first time worldwide, granted a wider public with an interest in culture and literature access to an annotated account of Zoderer's life and work, enhanced with pictorial material and boasting much new information. The author's premature legacy, which is stored in the Brenner-Archiv research institute and which was scientifically processed within the scope of the FWF Project P27061, forms the basis for the chronicle. The digitally accessible record of Zoderer's life deals with key situations that played significant roles in his authorial work and offers comprehensive documentation of Zoderer's entry into the literary world and the process of becoming established as a freelance writer. The account also deals with his relationship with Italy and Italian intellectuals. Targeted platform users include individuals - both local and trans-regional - with an interest in Austrian and South Tyrolean literature and culture and in the author Joseph Zoderer, in particular professionals from the arts, culture and literary sector, individuals working in the publishing industry, school and university teaching staff and students, as well as cultural and literary scholars. In addition to biographical data, users can, via the various menu bars of the online platform, access data on Zoderer's 26 (to date) monographic publications with information on each first publication, complete with an image of the cover and a summary of the content, on further editions (with covers) and translations (with covers), as well as bibliographical information on how his works were received by literary critics and interpreted by literary scholars. Accompanying the presentation of his works are visual impressions of various materials used in the creative process. These offer an exemplary insight into Zoderer's working methods. The digital publication of a complete bibliography, to which additions are constantly being made and for which Zoderer's extensive private library was utilised, also provides prompt access to all Zoderer's independent publications and journal articles and documents the reception of his works in the realm of literary criticism, as well as their scholarly analysis and interpretation. The online platform "Joseph Zoderer in Zoom" was presented in the following media on the occasion of the author's 85th birthday: Rai Südtirol - Tagesschau, 25.11.2020 ORF Tirol - Tirol heute, 27.11.2020 Innsbruck University Newsroom, 24. 11.2020 Tiroler Tageszeitung, 24.11.2020 Salzburger Nachrichten, 24.11.2020 Dolomiten, 25.11. 2020 Rai Südtirol, 25.11. 2020 Zett - Die Zeitung am Sonntag, Bozen, 29.11.2020 Wissenswert - Magazin der Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck, December 2020
