The aim of this project is the pursuit of theoretical studies of geophysical flows (currents and waves), mainly in the atmosphere but also in the Earths oceans, due to the importance of the atmosphere-ocean interactions for the climate. Nonlinear aspects are at the core. Other than currents and waves in the Earths atmosphere, phenomena in our solar will be investigated (e.g., vortices in the atmospheres of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune).
