At the most recent Scientific Board meeting, the FWF's Scientific Consultants decided on applications from numerous programs, based on the results of international peer review. The 146 approved projects with a total funding amount of around €66.5 million also include 20 projects from international programs with a funding amount of around €8 million, although the final commitments from the partner organizations are still pending.

The June meeting also included the decision on Austria's most highly endowed research awards: This year’s €1.9 million FWF Wittgenstein Award went to biochemist Elly Tanaka from the IMBA – Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). The first ever FWF ASTRA Awards were also decided, going to 18 projects with a funding volume of around €1 million each.
