Critical edition of the compete vorks of Christine Lavant

Due to a one year`s interruption of the project P-10463-HIS new assistants had to be found for P 12836-ARS: Dr. Annette Steinsiek and Dr. Ursula Schneider (University of Innsbruck, both 50-% part-time assistants). The process of P 12836-ARS was influenced by the change from "PEP 2.0" to the hypertext data base "Folio Views". Moreover the unexpectedly large amount of new material found in private properties (the "Scrinzi", "Purtscher" and "Kucher"-collections) was another reason for delay. These materials comprised unknown or lost prose, approx. 200 poems and the original manuscript of Christine Lavants first book publication, "Das Kind". Within a few months the basic conditions of the project had fundamentally changed. Some extensive tasks, e.g. the description of the new material, the scanning of manuscripts and the comment are still to be completed. In April 2001 a further project was proposed to the FWF, mainly concerning the book edition. This project has not been granted yet. The results of P 12836-ARS are: All texts available were transferred into "Folio Views", according to the editing principles. A number of book has already been published and received to great critical acclaim. The editorial apparatus was developed as far as possible in the time left. But all in all the CD-prototype represents a practical tool for further research. For the future process of the edition the following circumstances could be an obstacle. In spite of joint conceptions of the new project (mentioned above) in January 2001, A. Steinsiek and U. Schneider decided surprisingly to quit the project and concentrate on the edition of Christine Lavant`s letters. The problem is that a new assistant has to be found in the final period of the critical edition.
