The study of the history of Austrian children`s literature is still in its infancy and this applies especially to the years between 1933 and 1945. The unpublished results of the project "Adapted, displaced, pursued. Austrian Children`s and Youth Literature in the Years 1933 to 1945. Career Profiles in Comparison", funded by the Anniversary Fund of the Austrian National Bank (PN 13989) and the Future Fund of the Republic of Austria (PN P10-0623) have shown that a thorough examination of this period would be important. On the one hand, it would show how political influence is also evident in works for children and adolescents. On the other hand, it would help to preserve the memory of works by authors who could not publish at that time or, if so, only in exile, or were expelled or even murdered. The aim of the project is to cover the entire political spectrum, from propaganda texts to deliberately unpolitical and anti-fascist literature for children and young people. In order to better understand the literary scene at the time, publishers and the authors and illustrators were also considered. The project will build a publicly accessible database. (https://blumesberger.code4research.com/) This contains several sections. The biographical part allows an overview of the life and work of the authors or illustrators before 1933, during the period under investigation and the following years in order to be able to show possible breaks and continuities. In addition to the dates of birth and death, the curriculum vitae as well as references to written or illustrated works, there is also - when available - information on the background, education and awards. In the bibliographical section, you will find all those works that addressed a young reading audience and either first appeared in the period 19331945 or were reprinted during this time. The bibliographical information, content and descriptions of the works as well as references to a reception are presented as well. This sustainable database gives an overview of Austrian children`s and youth literature between 1933 and 1945.
