Dieses Doktoratskolleg plus (DK+) soll DoktorandInnen ein tiefes und ausgewogenes Spezialwissen in spezifischen Gebieten der kognitiven Wissenschaften sowie Expertise in neurowissenschaftlichen Methoden zur Untersuchung mentaler Funktionen vermitteln. Alle Lehrenden leiten Arbeitsgruppen von internationalem Rang auf Gebieten, die von der kognitiv-experimentellen Psychologie bis zur Sozialpsychologie, zu klinischen Problemen geistiger Funktionen und der Entwicklung spezifischer neurowissenschaftlicher Methoden reichen. Ihre Expertisen umfassen die Untersuchung von sprachlichen Strukturen (Haider), Leseprozessen (Wimmer), Bewusstseinsprozessen bei Demenz und Wachkomapatienten (Ladurner), intentionalen Erklärungen menschlichen Verhaltens ("theory of mind", Perner), Entscheidungsprozessen (Kühberger) inklusive Glückspielsucht (Wurst), Stress, Emotionsregulation und psychischen Störungen (Wilhelm), motivationalen Grundlagen sozialen Denkens und Verhaltens (Jonas), kognitiven Effekten von Hormonen (Kerschbaum) und die Entwicklung neuer Methoden in der EEG Forschung (Klimesch). Dieses Paket international renommierter Expertise in der Erforschung kognitiver Prozesse kann im Zentrum für Neurokognitive Forschung (ZnkF) auf eine optimale Ausstattung neurowissenschaftlicher Geräte zurückgreifen. Das ZnkF bietet eine Wissensplattform kombiniert mit einer außergewöhnlichen Breite zeitgemässer neurowissenschaftlicher Forschungsansätze: 3T-MR Tomographen mit kompatiblen Systemen für EEG, TMS/Navigation, Augenbewegungsmessung und somatischer Physiologie. Das ZnkF wird gemeinsam vom Fachbereich Psychologie der Paris-Lodron Universität Salzburg (PLUS) und dem Institut für Neurologie der Christian Doppler Klinik (CDK) getragen. Die technischen Geräte des ZnkF sind ausschließlich Forschungszwecken gewidmet. DoktoratsstudentInnen wird damit eine einmalige Gelegenheit geboten, ausreichenden Zugang zu solchen Geräten zu erhalten, um diese modernen Methoden zu erlernen und in ihrer Dissertationsforschung zu verwenden. Der Lehrkörper des DK+ hat gut ausgebildete internationale Verbindungen und Kooperationen, die den DoktorandInnen einen produktiven Austauschaufenthalt im europäischen Ausland und in Übersee garantieren, hochrangige Forschungsbeiträge wöchentlicher Gastvorträge ermöglichen und internationale Stellenangebote für erfolgreiche DoktoranInnen sicherstellen.
