Under the motto “The Art of Collaboration,” the 2026 Think Beyond Summit is dedicated to the power of cooperation – because when hundreds of researchers pool their expertise, the potential for groundbreaking findings increases. The focus is on Austria’s nine Clusters of Excellence, in which cutting-edge research takes us on a joint expedition into the future – also resulting in new forms of cooperation and knowledge transfer with business, industry, and society.

National and international stakeholders will meet at the ERSTE Campus in Vienna to take a look at the future of cooperative cutting-edge research. Eva-Maria Holzleitner (Federal Minister for Women, Science and Research), Axel A. Brakhage (German Research Foundation, DFG), Dorothea Ringe (Joachim Herz Foundation), Christof Gattringer, and Ursula Jakubek (Austrian Science Fund FWF) are on the guest list.

The first part of the program will look at how to best untilize synergies between research, business, industry, and society to strengthen knowledge transfer and innovation. Representatives of the nine FWF Clusters of Excellence will then provide insights into their current work and plans for the future. The event will conclude with a networking reception under the motto “Science connects - Clusters of Excellence Networking Meeting,” which will give attendees the opportunity for an intensive exchange with the researchers.
