Please note that these standard personnel costs and salaries apply only to grant proposals for FWF projects. Actual personnel costs may diverge from the values indicated below due to specific remuneration agreements at each research institution.

Funding can only be requested for the salary of an independent researcher in cases where that researcher cannot conclude a contract of employment with a research institution. In such cases, applicants are advised to contact the FWF Office for further information in order to ensure that the application is submitted properly.

ii Personnel cost rate for project leaders who finance their own salary from the project budget (grant-salaried PI’s and project leaders in the career development programmes ESPRIT, Schrödinger (return phase), Richter and Richter-PEEK). To be used if the research institution at which the project is to be carried is subject to the Austrian Universities Act (UG) 2002 or if the research institution has concluded an agreement with the FWF in this regard.
iii The personnel costs that can be requested for doctoral candidates are limited to a maximum of 30 hours/week. The basis for calculating personnel costs for fewer working hours is € 58,200.00 per year (=100%).
